WGXe Photo Recovery Review

A Solid Photo Recovery Program for Windows

Photo Recovery, by wGXe, allows you to search and recover your photos which were lost due to being emptied from the Recycle Bin, partition loss or damage, software corruption, virus’s infection, unexpected system crash, shutdown or any other unknown reasons. We tested both their deleted recovery mode and formatted recovery mode with success from both. The price of the product (around $40) we also felt was very reasonable for the amount of features it supports.

  • High-speed scanning and support for all major drives and file systems
  • Extensive help file and an easy to read and understand interface
  • 99% recovery rate
  • Great value at about $40

Ease of Use:
The option to preview the photos before recovery is useful if you are only looking for a certain photo in a group of many deleted files, and it also comes in handy that you can try the product before you buy it. The help buttons bring up step-by-step guides for recovering photos under different circumstances. wGXe makes it easy for even those with minimal computer knowledge to successfully recover missing photos.

wGXe featured a very high scanning speed, which can be very helpful for large memory cards. The software also allowed for recovering from deleted files on your computer or directly from a memory card. We were able to recover lost data from hard drive, USB drive, memory card, memory stick, camera card, and other storage media, while the program supports all FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS file systems. The software does not advertise support for cell phones or Apple products.

The documentation and help files for wGXe were helpful and we don’t expect many users will have problems using the program, however unlike Disk Doctors and Stellar Phoenix, they offer no toll-free tech support.

The Bottom Line

At $40, wGXe photo recovery is worth it. We had a good recovery rate, and from download to scan, it only took us a couple minutes. If you are a PC user, why not give it a shot?

this one returned the pics from my canon digital camera.

thought the price a bit pricey, but overall worth it.
